SUBJECT: Neighborhood Meet and Greet and Speak Out with MPD Personnel

In an unprecedented initiative, Captain Harpole of Police District 3 is making available police personnel we would normally not have one on one contact with to work on neighborhood crime issues. It is our hope that with this cooperative effort we can confront crime problems head on as we approach Spring and Summer of 2006. You will be given the opportunity ?“Speak Out?’ your concerns, questions, recommendations and suggestions directly to Milwaukee Police Personnel.
This ''Meet and Greet Meeting'' will be attended by the following individuals: Alderman Michael Murphy, Captain James Harpole-Police District 3, Community liaison officer(s) District 3, Officers assigned to the District, Three Anti-Gang Unit Officers, Officers assigned to the District Three Community Prosecution Team, Assistant District Attorney Altenburg, a District Patrol Sergeant, the Officers assigned to patrol the Valley Park/Piggsville neighborhood, and representative(s) from the Police Aide Program. A representative from the Valley Park Security Radio Network will also be present. Parents are encouraged to bring their teenaged children to attend if they are interested in a law enforcement career, the Police Aide Program will be highlighted as part of the meeting.
As we get closer to Spring and Summer here in our neighborhood we must be prepared to respond to any negative activity. Captain Harpole and the Valley Association hope to give you that opportunity by attending this meeting and getting to know the people who are willing to work with us more closely to provide an aggressive, rational approach to crime.
We hope by sharing ideas and partnering with the Police we can be more proactive than reactionary to crime problems. This will be a working partnership between the dedicated men and women of law enforcement and the hundreds of committed residents and property owners of our neighborhood who have had it up to their eyebrows with the ?“same old?” crap every summer. This partnership should send a strong message to people committing crime and disorder here.
You may notice we will be meeting at the First Service Credit Union. This puts meetings a bit closer to home for many residents. We graciously thank them for their accommodation and continued efforts to be an active part of our community!
Light refreshments will be provided by The Valley Inn (Thank You!) and the Valley Association
