Feral Cats

Posted in: Amphi

I think every neighborhood has problems with feral cats. I live in slidell La. I have to date taken 37 cats/kittens to the SPCA. They will not help me catch these felines. Most of the problem has been solved by me. The females have mostly died off. They were long miserable deaths. They are smart and would never come close. I take them to a no  kill shelter. You have good leads from what I see, stick with it!

 1) So I guess you let your dogs run free too, IDIOT!                                                       2) If you are lucky enough to trap them, most educated/compasionate humans would take them to the SPCA!                                                                                                      3) This is the type of uneducated thinking that created this problem in the first place. Now you fool! What are you going to do with the coyotes when the cats are gone? Oh I guess you would take great pleasure in shooting them and mounting their heads on your wall.                                                                                                                            4) Last but not least STUPID those are my tax dollars, been paying for over half a century. I guess it's okay for politicians to literally steal millions of dollars from us for their lavish lifestyles they do not deserve. But we cannot use our tax money to help animals that HUMANS decided they were tired of, or just threw them out like garbage because they moved and did not want to be bothered! HOPE YOUR DOG HAS BETTER LUCK!

While I do not condone or desire to inflict harm or injury to any kind of animal, there comes a time when cats without owners, feral cats, continue to breed and cause a problem need to be taken care of.  I am severely allergic to cats, to the point of needing the emergency room when exposed to their dander, scratches or hair.  I go into respiratory distress meaning I CANNOT breathe.  I am the victim of such feral cats in my neighborhood.  My neighbors, bleeding hearts, feel it necessary to feed these cats and refuse to stop even after management has told them to stop.  They have flat out said they will not stop providing them food, water and makeshift shelter.  The problem with this is, they are living 10 feet from the deck of my apartment and continuously come onto my deck, hang from my screens, and leave their dander and hair everywhere.  I am locked into my lease until August of 2015.  At the time I signed my lease in August 2014 this was not a problem.  Apparently the momma had her litter since signing my lease and there is no way for me to get out of it short of dying.  So, for those of you that think we should all take care of these nuisance animals because some jackass left their animals behind or neglected to have them fixed, you go right ahead but first send me your address so that I may forward my medical bills as well as the other bills I pay with my job.  If I end up in the hospital again because of these animals, you will be paying my car payments, credit cards, etc when I am unemployed.

Believe me when I tell you, I feel your pain! I in no way shape or form wanted this responsibility. Apparently who ever lived in my apartment before me help to create this problem. My first experience with this was 2yrs. ago. I am seriously country so when the weather is good I leave my windows open. A feral cat jumped through my window and delivered kittens 4 seconds later, at 3:oclock in the morning! Due to the fact that most of my neighbors are elderly and have been feeding these cats for years, they will not stop. Most of my neighbors gets meals on wheels. Guess who gets the food, you got it the cats. I wish I had a solution. I don't want them at my house either! I have literally begged the spca to help me. They tell me I have to catch them. Well why don't I just run right out and wrestle a cougar while I am at it. I don't expect anyone to take care of these animals, but the hard core truth is they are everywhere. I understand your medical condition as I have been a nurse for 22yrs. I once contracted a serious disease from cats, had to take cancer drugs for a year because of  toxoplasmosis. Your problem is about to get alot worse. These animals average 7-10 kittens a litter, those kittens will be ready to breed in just a few months. The math is not good, or in your favor. Again if someone has a logical solution to this problem I am open for answers. However the person I responded to made it sound like great fun to watch these animals get torn to shreds. Much like dog fighting this makes them on sick individual!
