Snow Removal

Posted in: Ashbourne Hills

I am very disappointed with the snow removal in Ashbourne Hills during this past storm (12/19/09).  I rode through other developements and thier roads are clear.  Ashbourne Hills roads are still very icy and covered.  I have complained in the past to the president and I just don't understand why other communities have thier roads taken care of and we have to deal with icy roads a week after the storm.  This is just insane.  Maybe someone should contact the other associations (Radnor Green) and see who they use and how they manage to clear the roads for thier residents. I was behind the snow plow on Saturday- I understand they were trying to keep up with it, but obviously that didn't happen.  How about alittle salt or something to put down instead of wasting money on other activities that should not come from our dues.  I have paid my dues every year--this year I am thinking of not paying them--I know alot of residents dont pay.  I do NOT support using dues for a Halloween Parade or a Easter Egg Hunt.  There should be a seperate fund for those activities--if you want to donate--fine.  This should NOT come from our dues.  I really think the block party is a big waste of time.  How many families actually come to the block party?  Ive rode by on my way out and it didn't look like there was much going on.  I feel that maybe if we didn't waste our dues money on the parade, easter egg hunt and block party we could afford a better plowing service, roads being salted and maybe some street cleaning in the summer.  We need to make Ashbourne Hills a nicer, neater place for residents.  You ride through other communites and you can tell that Ashbourne is not on the same level--not even with Radnor Green.  Seriously!  People need to also clean up around thier houses--you pay a mortgage every month--why do you choose to live in messy, dirty conditions--clean up your investment!  Make Ashbourne a desirable place to live.  I moved in to Ashbourne in 2005 if it looked like it does now I would have never purchased my home.

The Civic Association appreciates any and all feedback it receives.  The contractor responsible for snow plowing in Ashbourne Hills was contacted and resident's concerns were brought to his attention.

Please feel free to contact the civic association as a volunteer in order to have an impact.  Any member of the community can be part of the team that determines when snow removal occurs or what events the community hosts.

Please come to the next meeting on February 10th at 6PM and help the community move forward with action.
