First off allow me to introduce myself; I will not go by any coded screen names. My name is Leslie Fletcher; I live at 30372 Wren Ct (the house with the apparently horrific skateboard ramp that I built for my children to play on). We have lived in Audubon Trace for 10.5 years. We were about the 8th or 9th house built. We were lied to from the start when we were told all the plans for the lake such as raising the water level etc. Instead they drain the lake. I cooperated with the grass restriction of centipede or better and spent several thousand dollars, only to see that houses to this day still only have natural grass. Hey I don??™t have a problem with that it??™s just the principal. Now keep in mind this was all done by the developer. Then one day the developer wants to sell two lots (at an elevated price) in the back for an entry to another subdivision. The association being new at that time was not happy. My mother, who is a residential and commercial contractor in Tangipahoa Parish, offered her attorney's service. Her attorney drafted a letter to the developer and several weeks later the entry plan was no more. This attorney will be the same one who represents me in the event I am accused of violating any restrictions. So I am well aware of the laws governing Home Owners Association. Now this is by no means meant to be a threat just fyi. With that being said I do feel that our restrictions are a little on the nitpicky side and can stand to have a fair amount of amending. Me personally, I don??™t see anything being done right now that would de-value anyone's property. No engines hanging from trees or free ranging chickens....I am sorry to say but we are not a country club. Is abolishing the Association the answer?? I am not sure but I do feel that a major overhaul of the restrictions may be needed. Restrictions that give a little flexibility to raise a family and have things as long as they are kept neat and orderly. We are living in tight economic times right now so keep that in mind.
