Why haven?´t you spoken with her about our visit? Before you declare ?¨I can honestly say that I don?’t need that in my life?¨ don?´t you think that you should at least ask what ?¨that?¨ is?

I discovered that your friend is intelligent, sincere, well-intentioned, thoughtful and generally the kind of person worthy of respect. Had I not decided to risk a reaction to my simple presence that could have been less than pleasant for both of us I would never know these things about her. I believe that we all have within ourselves the capacity to become better people than we currently are. The only thing that keeps that from happening is effort and the courage to undertake it.
