Avery Park Neighborhood - West/Central Fort Collins, Colorado

The centerpiece of the Avery Park neighborhood is AVERY PARK, which is located in the Western/Central part of the neighborhood along Clearview Avenue and Castlerock Drive. Just west of Castlerock Drive are the tree lined picnic areas and playground. On the eastern boundary of the park is Avery Park Pond, which is a cattailed lined pond habitat for ducks and geese.

FAMILIES WELCOME

Adjacent to Avery Park are single family homes, duplexes, plus a condo/townhouse complex. Nearby is Moore Elementary and the Taft Hill Shopping area, which includes a King Soopers Grocery & Pharmacy. The neighborhood is bounded on the North by Elizabeth, which is a main street towards the east and Colorado State University; and bounded on the West by Taft Hill, which is a North/South main street that provides access north to the City Park Nine Golf course & City Park - then south to Blevins Jr. High and another shopping area with a Safeway Grocery, plus a Walgrens Drug Store.

Avery Park Neighborhood Association established

In October of 1996, the Avery Park Neighborhood Association was activated for the general betterment of the neighborhood. A neighborhood of some 500+ living units - including single family homes, duplexes, and a condo/townhouse complex. Various committees were established to provide guidelines & communication on this goal. Spring cleanups and socal activities have been used to help neighbors get to know their neighbors and improve the beauty of the neighborhood.

APN Assoication instrumental in Avery Pond improvement

Through the efforts of the Avery Park Neighborhood Association - the Avery Park Pond was improved in 1998 with a Federal Government Block Grant. The Association promoted the need for the improvement to various city offices, committees, Water Board, Block Grant Commission, and the City Council.
