When I bought my home, it had dandelions. I know that throwing down weed killer is going to help my lawn. It doesn't bother me to buy a home with weeds. That is something that I can change. I look for bigger things in a home that I cannot change. Homes with weeds do sell if the person buying is open minded.

Would you buy a car with rust? Would you buy a dirty sweater?

Why would you buy a home that someone neglected. How simple is it to treat your yard? Did they have their furnace inspected?

A home with a well kept yard would to me be the best indication of what kind of care the previous homeowner took of the house?

You are missing the point. Yes it's easy to treat a lawn and it shouldn't discourage someone from buying a house, but what about the neighbor next door ? Can you convince them to take care of their lawn ? Who wants to live next to someone that doesn't keep up their property? I wouldn't dream of buying a home ,if it was next to some slobs.
