I have three large trees in my yard. I am constantly cleaning up debris. I use to burn it but soon had gladstone fire dept at my door. They were very kind as they explained the no burning rule. There use to be a loop hole in the ordinance if you had a decorative fireplace in your backyard. But no longer, you cant burn anything in any container anymore if your a Happy Rock resident. I wonder if I'm entitled to a refund at lowes? I am aware of the special yard debris service that you can pay an extra $75 dollars a year and have the truck come pick up your nice neat brown paper sacks. This is not a viable solution in my case. It would be a full time job cutting up and raking up all the yard debris and neatly tucking it into those bags. So, I am going to contact city hall to get some input about setting up some kind of FREE yard waste disposal area year round. If anyone has a solution or knows of free areas I can dump my trailer load of sticks and leaves please let me know.

The City offers two yard waste disposal events during the year. At these events, residents may only dispose of grass, leaves, tree limbs and brush. The yard waste disposal events are traditionally scheduled for the first weekend in May and the first weekend in November. Please check the Calendar of Events to confirm the dates and times. If you have any questions, please call the Department of Public Works at 816-436-5442

You would think the enclosed outdoor fireplaces sold at home stores would allow burning of leaves and sticks in Gladstone. Shows how unthought out our community rules and regulations are.

I also have an enclosed outdoor fireplace I will not be able to use. I have passed it on to someone outside of Gladstone.

I have put more information on the website re: brush disposal.  Still costs if you take it to public works to dump - but much cheaper than Compost Connection or some of the other brush disposal companies.
