Boulevard Park Neighborhood Association

Crime Stats true or false?

Posted in: Boulevard Park
The fact is that the crime stats for the downtown core are much more than the posted amount. The nerve of people not telling the truth about something so important to the residents of the area is very upsetting.I am part of the neighborhood watch and there was more burgularies, car thefts and car burgularies then 3. Please if we are to have the stats give us the true numbers not b.s.

crime stats are not disclosed

Parker Homes neighborhood improvement association is not even included in crime stats for the program. They left us off their map. (High crime area) What I have seen in the Sacramento Bee article, they are underreported., particularly in our area.Gary.collier@omnibbs.com

Hearing is believing!

The Community Watch Center is open from noon to 2 a.m. seven days a week. Anyone can come and spend half a shift and hear the non-stop calls and the many that have no units available to respond.

I'll not go as far as my friend and fellow watcher Phil but I'll remind folks that we said crime was up in midtown while Captain Busch said it was down. The Bee, a year later, validated what we had reported on our pages for two years. History repeats.

Just remember, Philidelphia, under a new Commish, withdrew the deflated crime stats for the last three years from the FBI and gave them the accurate ones. Crime in their city was indeed up despite millions in crime bill funding. Other cities are now considering a review. Should we? Al Gore was here today with fed funds for victims. Is that a clue?

Statistics = Game Plan

Before you can try to fix a problem, you have to know what the problem is. These
Crime Stats are very important if we are to reduce our risk of being victimized.
Since we just got a new Police (Area Manager) Captain Hyde, let's ask him how to get the REAL data out of the system. Are people not reporting crime because they think it's too difficult? Or are the Police reluctant for some reason ?
