Town of Braintree

We've been challenged.

Question, whats to keep the

school comittee from entering into a contract that totally depletes the town coffers ?

Blind and toothless

that's what we'll end up being if we don't begin to use our brains for more than a hat rack.

So the schools budget will stay the same size and then they will cut jobs to meet the lousy raises that they so cleverly passed. What does that get us at the end of the day Frank? I feel that the school should receive a flat percent of our budget and live with it. if we have a lousy school system so be it but there's more things that need to be addressed than just our ''future generation''.

You're still touting your Mayor only position but it falls on deaf ears to this writer. I don't trust the politicians of Braintree to do what's good for Braintree for a minute let alone for a 6 year term. So I would never support a Mayor form of government. I recall you stating that you were comfortable and supportive of the actions of those that created the political turmoil that our town still hasn't bounced back from and that concerns me. I think that our form of government needs to be one that protects the interests of all of the people and not the ones who are friends of the Mayor. Strong Town manager with council or selectmen is my choice.
What is the difference...

between a Mayor and Council and Manager and Council? I wonder if when Weymouth voted in their 'townie, fire chief,' if they had the same fears. Haven't heard too much static coming from Weymouth about their new government. At least they know who is resonsible for actions taken in their town. At the least they know how their rep.councillors are voting on issues. We have some great minds representing us at town meeting, but do they outnumber the slackers or those with good intentions but who just don't get it? Folks, look around you, what is missing for you to be convinced that our government is not sufficiently serving us in the 2lst century? I think it is time you put your faith in one person and a board of your peers and held them accountable for your well-being. Our picket fence government is not working to our best interest. Last election two great reps. from my precinct were unseated. Both dedicated, fair minded, impartial people. I couldn't ask for better representation; they were always available to listen and advise. They were unseated and in their stead we still have the custodian and his special interests and the teacher's son and their special interests--it is not working!

By money matters
Why isn't the school contract

with the union in the public domain?

The document should be available for at least town meeting to peruse. The
public has a right to know how these monies are being disbursed.

Does town meeting get in their information packets details of how the schools spend the tax funds? Will town ever know the details of any school negotiations with the unions?

Why is their so much secrecy around the schools finances, do we the town have on public record school budget details?
