Phone Alert
I thought the phone alert that there wasn't any school was AWESOME. Never even had to get out of bed, the kids got to sleep in, didn't have to listen to endless cancellation announcements. What time would you like your call? I'm sure the start time was 5:30 a.m. I got my call at 5:50 and I was impressed and thrilled!!!

Alert System
This system doesn't cost ''billions of dollars,'' it is an automated service which has many beneficial uses. It can be used to get any message sent town-wide in a very short period of time. In this era of terrorist attacks, school shootings, kidnappings, etc. it is a very important capability to have. In an emergency, I believe you with ''zero kids in schools'' could receive a phone alert. If the town's water source was contaminated for whatever reason, would you be willing to ''pay a dime'' then?

Harrrumph to you, too
My response to you, Sir or Madam, is that I think the service is much more than a ''wake-up call''... it would be used for emergencies, cancellations and important announcements. Every school system, including private schools have this phone system in place. It is helpful and productive. I will tell you, in response to your comment about watching tv or listening to the radio, that this option isn't always the best. Especially when High School students meet the bus at 0700 in the morning... a phone call at 0545 is a very pleasant and helpful thing.
As far as the cost goes.. I know that some of the elementary PTOs paid for the service themselves.. The town of Braintree, at this BELD site, also has this option available to YOU! You too, can get a call in an emergency... imagine that you Cheap B.

Not Another One!
It's not paid for by your taxes, you cheap stupe! It's paid for by the different PTO's in town.
Do we really live in a town with so many hateful cranks??
