80% of Budget
Thank you 'No 2 1/2 Override Guy'. Sometimes you get lucky, I was typing while you were sending and finally a useful answer, inadvertently. I too will not vote yea for an override until we clean house first, dept. by dept. I too think we should be staying within the 2 1/2% growth guidelines. With 80% allocated for salaries not much is left for other expenses. It bears the question are too many employed or are the salaries of those employed too rich for 34K citizens? Outsourcing, something to contemplate; could possibly achieve professional assistence, with higher rewards, for the same or less money.

We Outsource Now
Not the school department, silly guy. However they do outsource to a degree for certain services; and they do so because it saves us money. But we outsource in the assessors to patriot properties, we outsource in the tax department for mailings and collections, we outsource for tree service, road work, etc. It is not a totally new concept, but possibly it could be expanded upon.
