The Beld Phantom Spammer
We have a phantom spammer on our mail system, the Forum has an article about it.. The volume of spam transmitted was exceedingly large and all was rejected by spam filtering on the receiver end and rejection notices came back our way burying our mail server. When they catch him they will have a public spectacle, an old fashioned lynching would be appropriate. they, Beld, says they don?’t know yet who it is but they are tracing his trail and have their best people on the case. When they find him he?’s out of here.. I hope it isn?’t our little weenie tho/townie, it would be a shame to have to lynch him/it. The old site would be so quiet without but it sure sounds good.. They will never take me alive, hahahah --------------the Phantom. By William Balderdash Esq. |

People dont spam - Machines do
This was caused by a BELD Broadband subscriber who sent millions of outbound SPAM e-mail messages to AOL and Yahoo accounts, explained Jo Ann Stak Bregnard, BELD's marketing and programming director. ... this is the quote in the Forum article It does not mention whether the machine was compromised by someone from another ISP / Country etc. Or whether the BELD ''sender'' did the spamming intentionally... more from the article- The person who sent the SPAM has some intimate knowledge of how cable companies identify such people and acted accordingly,'' Bottiggi said. ''What was done was not necessarily illegal because our system was not hacked into, but it was a violation of our terms of service to cause such a disruption. The immediate remedy would be to terminate the account of the attacker once his or her identity is discovered --- Lets not lead the readers down the path that this is some dark grim reaper looking ''dude'' typing quickly and sending spam. The stuff is automated etc. its a machine..and if you dont keep up to date with Virus Protection etc it could be your machine.. It..Happpens read the stuff at fsecure.com By Bill |
