good post ebr
these people in town who are for a progressive government really mean a socialist form of government.we as a town need to get control of our school system.
It doesn't belong to the school comittee,it belongs to the people in town who pay for it and vote the correct school comittee into office.
these political alliances formed as a way into high town office are costing us too much in budget increases for school staff.

School Budget
If any of you ever read the school budget, you may notice that they NEVER make any repairs or upgrade within the budget. Instead they submit a wish list to the Capital Planning Committee and then when they don't get what they ask for, they ring their hands and ask for an override and Joe Hubbard leads the charge. You all voted for ''MR. TAX AND SPEND'' so now you are paying for his agenda. Wait and see how many millions he goes after. Of cousee the School Committee always says they are maxed out and have to layoff. So they layoff for the summer and hire back in the fall. They couldn't tell the truth if you pinned the tail on them.

Control point
The control point for the schools is with the FinCom. That is where the funding problems begin and end. Every year the SC and Kurzberg come before them and give them their tale of woe. Then the FinCom stops listening with their ears and feels sorry for the poor souls and supports their funding request for a measly 3% increase in their budget. Of course they forget that a 3% increase in their budget maxes out all of the available money that was raised in the tax levy and the problem continues.
I can't blame the school committee for trying to do what's best for the schools because that was what they were elected to do. I place the blame on the bleeding hearts of the FinCom and there recomnedations to Town Meeting that allows this nonsense to continue year after year.
