Town of Braintree

Just wondering if the rumors are true that during the incident at the shipyard on the Braintree side that the Braintree Police Chief sent home the Boston Fire Dept Technical Rescue team who specialize in this kind of incident. They were requested by Braintree Fire to the scene because of what they do and the knowledge the have in this type of incident. Braintree PD chief sent them back because he didn't want them in his town. Who is he to send home fire resouces during this type of incident this is more a of fire incident it was a rescue and how much training does the police chief have in confined space rescues?? Its called mutual aid when you call for another town to come in and help and you call Boston for incidents of this nature because of their expierence and the equipment they have. There were people trapped in there and he sent home the people that had the resources to possibly do there best to reach the trapped victims I realize the outcome may have been the same if they stayed but you didn't give them a chance. If this whole incident is true then it needs to be delt with because he pissed Boston fire off and the next time we them who knows if they will show.

Rumor Monger

Before you spread a rumor, you might try to find out the truth. In this case, the easy way would have been to call the Braintree Fire Chief who was in charge of the incident and ask him. It was a Fire department incident (rescue/recovery) and therefore the Fire Chief was the Incident Commander and if the Tunnel Unit from Boston had been ''sent home'' (which they weren't) it would have been done by the Fire Chief as the Incident Commander. In fact, the Law Enforcement Supervisor on Scene was Sgt. Bob Moschella until the State Police took over the investigation under the command of Lt. Gerry Mattaliano from the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office.
