Calm down THO
I'm not an insider but I take a high interest in the goings on of the town.
Not that it matters, but I find your posts to be not only very wordy but they also provide a point of view for discussion, which is why this board is provided to us.
I'm surprised to read that you don't feel that readers of this medium should be presented with the facts. I recall recent posts by you that spew many words of budgetary statistics and increases. I think that it is important to allow the facts to be presented if they are available to you and it appears that you subscribe to the same philosophy.
Although this thread has gotten off topic I wish you good Good Luck THO, and keep the fodder coming.

DE vs. DO
A yea vote for either means you are supporting the current state of affairs in this town. Our problem being that 80% of our budget goes for salaries. That either means we pay to much for salaries and benefits for the amount of our tax base or that we employ too many for a town our size. A vote for a debt exclusion only frees up cash to purpetuate our budget problems, so voter beware.

thought you were smarter Q&A
I thought that you had a good handle on things around town THO but you disappoint me with your last post.
Last year every department in town received major cuts to address the budget shortfall. You do remember that these cuts were the beginning steps to stop the structural deficit that the town has been operating on for many years. The Finance Director, Selectmen and Fin Com finally got on the same page last year, which is a first for this town and put a budget together that could be sustained by our taxes.
The school committee is crying about the dollar amount of their cuts last year but most of those cuts were due to their dependency on using State Aid (aka one time funding sources) for recurring programs. Knowing that, this year they decide to give their workforce a raise which creates a deficit for the town. Does this make sense to anyone? A debt exclusion question for CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS was put to the voters last year and it didn't pass. I think that it failed because most people don't understand the difference between an override and a debt exclusion but that's another matter. As a voter, I think that these questions should be put in front of us and I don't think that the candidates have any effect on the outcome. People vote based on what they believe to be true and unfortunately when it comes to overrides and debt exclusions, people just don't understand them.I voted for the question last year because it was a debt exclusion for capital improvements. I voted No and would vote No again on an override question for services.

what type of response would please you?the one in which i agree and concur that you are 100% correct?
you will get that only from:
1.your parents if they're Dependant on you for their well being.
2.your siblings for the same reason
3.your spouse
4.your children
5.a candidate that wants your support
6.a work subordinate.
if you are continue the debate to change my point of view,i assure you
that i am not one of those listed above

I'm not looking to be pleased. I am only stating that I was disappointed in your knowledge. You make some great posts on this board which creates good debate. Your lack of subject matter became clear on the post that I responded to.I learned long ago that that only one you can truly please is yourself and I have no desire to be pleased by you.I just thought that you had a better handle on matters about our town. Disappointing.

based upon who's gauge? a handle on all things town.you do not have a monopoly and i assure you and yours i am neither the authority nor the last word on all things braintree.would it make you feel better if every one of my posts were wordy?what would that prove? that maybe i like to read my own views or that i am not smart enough to recognized the virtue of a short succinct response.i appreciate the fact you wish to qualify your robust point with much detail but i do not require your wish to spoon feed me or anyone at the site every morsel to quantify your in this case depth of all things braintree town budget.it really isn't needed.if you wish to educate the other town voters you might require a wider based communication opportunity not possible
here.my knowledge is not insider driven.are you prepared to make the same disclosure?

final thoughts on the subject

okay here it is: some time ago it occurred to many that most post discussions regarding town budget problem hardly ever involved in depth analysis with real figures as they related to salary and expenditure.i did some resource checking that turned up real timely information that i tried to succinctly present to web site visitors.
the same argumentative posts become boring without substantiation of facts and there is nothing more useless than
fiction perpuated by back stabbers and score settlers.i made both enemies and friends as a result but what astonished
me the most was that i was able to apreciate the differculty that town goverment faces in these times.fiscal responsibility has no peer in any discussion here.when buildings and roads
repairs continue to be put on the back burner year after year in favor of wage and benefit discussion it boggles the mind as much as it hurts the heart.our priorities as a town are screwed up when
new SUV'S are purchased and deputy police earn in excess of 100,000/ year.
the town not only hire incompetents, but pays them well too.then they quit or are fired and we pay to get rid of them.
money and lots of it.dear voter the problem with town government is that incompetent people are elected to hire
incompetent people to tell incompetent what to do.it would explain why people can NEVER get anything right here.i am tallking about the town government not the individual town worker.that would be painting with too broad a brush.they deserve better.there is nothing worse than working FOR a moron.that DOES NOT
make them morons, just unfortunate.that goes for every teacher police and fireman, dpw worker, etc.their bosses are the problem.and so are the union negotiators who try to take advantage.
throwing money at people who are spending NEXT YEAR'S budget is criminal.
thanks for the time you have invested in the post.well said.
