the Specter controversy

There's one other dimension to the Specter controversy that surprisingly has not received wider exposure and needs to become a key issue instead of a footnote. Per Judge Bork during his appearance on Sean Hannity, Specter ''was one of two Republican senators who voted to subject American servicemen to the International Criminal Court, under a treaty which we have refused to sign.''

Every American concerned and outraged over this (especially if you have a loved one in harm's way who is serving their country in the military) needs to let the administration know ?– in no uncertain terms ?– that this alone makes Specter an unacceptable choice.

We have seen the enemy ?– and he is ''
us.'' While Republicans are basking in the euphoria of victory, their future is already slipping away. Conservatives are more thankful John Kerry lost than George Bush won.

Today, the demise of Tom Daschle has been replaced with the rise of Arlen Specter. Bush can forget about the judicial appointments he wants to satisfy his conservative base. The Senate Judiciary Committee will be cemented in favor of the left. Unless Specter is denied the chair and Republicans overcome the Democrats' phony filibuster, the pro-life movement will be alienated beyond reconciliation.

This being the case, Hillary Clinton will be a shoe-in for president in 2008. Conservatives saved Bush's presidency because he was pro-life. They will not go to bat again for a pro-choice Republican.
