I understand the school committee put their feet down by voting to be open minded about an indoor pool at the high school. No outdoor pool at the high school or any school property was their vote. If that is still true, we can't afford the cost of a twelve month indoor pool, so putting a pool that we can afford at the high school is out of the question. Surely, we'll never have enough money to build an indoor pool, so let's zero in on an outdoor pool for Braintree. It's only been forty years or so when Braintree took the money from the donor. I'm sure he wouldn't have donated the money if he knew the town would never build a pool. Let's honor the man's generosity and build a pool we can afford and Hollis Field is a great place to build it.

Dear Sandra,
I'm not sure what their opinion was on whether indoor or outdoor pool was the way to go, but I do believe they were unanimous in building the pool at the highschool. They felt other school sites had too many negatives for a pool to be built there. I believe Mrs. Clark brought that up at the special tm a few weeks ago.

Peterson Committee
The Peterson Pool committee went to the SC a few years ago asking if the pool could be sited at the high school, and got a yes vote. Then I think they went to the SC again last year with the same question and got a yes again. Then they went to the SC this year and asked about East and Morrison, and the SC said they'd prefer it at the HS because the other schools were too remote to keep a pool safe at night. It never had to be a real ''indoor'' pool, just one covered with a bubble or something for safety reasons.
I watch all of the town meetings on TV and I don't ever remember the schools trying to ''grab'' the pool for themselves...they were asked and they answered. This was suggested in the Forum recently and it's not right.
