You are absolutely correct
This debt exclusion is a wash for the taxpayers, even less of a cost in the first year. The dollars can ONLY be spent on what is listed in the debt exclusion language. All of the naysayers should try to become more open minded and better informed about this issue. WE have to fix leaky roofs, improve our roads and improve telecommunications for our public safety personnel, NO MONEY from this proposal can be used for employee pay raises. If the Selectman want to add Police and Fireman, other budgets will have to be adjusted accordingly. I think they will reach a compromise and try to add just 3 to each department this year. PLEASE just give this issue a fair consideration, but remember WE are going to be paying the same dollars for a trash fee anyway if we do not pass this exclusion. Our dollars will be more wisely spent this way. The business community will also be paying for this exclusion which will be a major contributor to funding this exclusion.

where are the cops?
i dropped my daughter off at braintree
high school last night and both sides of the fire lane had parked cars.
the problem here is either:
a.the people that parked there
are inconsiderate and ignorant.
b.they ALL might be handicapped
which would be a stretch.
c. the police in town don't make
rounds to enforce the law.
d.the police/fire or anyone
having authority over such
matters were aware there was
an event there and it would
cause this breaking of the law.
e.all of the above.
you decide.
one thing's for certain though;
if Mr. Frazier or Mr. Kenney want more
coverage they might want to pay attention to Braintree High.it really truly IS more important than BOTH
Braintree Place and South Shore Plaza's
security issues.Simon Properties can
afford to cover their own butt.fire/police should respond to residents first, not town tenants who can afford their own security.is anyone
at Town Hall paying attention?

VOTE NO
Let the roads go to hell. Maybe the people that use Braintree as a cutthrough will stop jamming up this town with their rushhour traffic. Everyone else will have to slow down and take their time while driving in Braintree.
Who in their right mind would pass an exclusion which would allow these incompitent fools access to their hardearned money to spend every which way but the right way.

Let roads go to hell
Let's see.....hmmmmm
In Braintree
We have 22,000 voters.
9,000 of them senior voters.
33,000 residents.
I'm not sure how many households.
But our daytime population swells to over 100,000 and tons of trucks tearing and ripping up our streets everyday all day while polluting our air and peacefulness ?
And they want our residents to fork over more money to fix our roads ?
Nah....sounds like a raw deal to me.
Why not implement a different kind of tax that taxes the trucking commerce and maybe an employer/payroll tax targets for the big employers in this town.
Use our infrastructure, pay a use tax.
Use our roads with heavy truck usage, pay a use tax.
Use our Fire and Police resources, pay a use tax.
There must be a way to implement additional local taxes that match the use with the resource other than hitting up the residential property owner. I use Union Street, but not as much as some big trucking outfits in this town. I have used the local 911 resources, but not as much as a certain shopping plaza in town.
I don't have a big dangerous industrial crane in my backyard that exposes our rescue personnel to life safety risks.
I just cannot see continuing with the same revenue model going into the future. Local property cannot be the only funding source providing revenue to this town.
Aren't there any geniouses who can approach the governing Dept of Revenue to find out what additional local taxing authority the Town of Braintree can excercise ?
Ever look on your W-2 and see a box for local/city taxes ? Maybe it's time for Braintree to figure out how to put a number in there ?
Braintree is host to an awful lot of business and our residential taxpayers are funding a disproportionate level or infrastructure resources to commerce.
Of course with some exclusions for the small town biz operations like small harddware stores, coffee & lunch shops who have very small payrolls and don't generate very much traffic and drain on local infrastructure resouce.
