First I would like to say we have lived here for 9 years and it has been a great place to raise our son ,and we have some great neighbors.but I don't umderstand why some are under a microscope so much. One of our neighbor has been picked on from the time she moved in.She is a single mom who works hard raising her son alone I might add!!People have called on her for some dumb things<and these are people who live around the counter or up the road ,They dont even live within 4 houses of her.Come on if you have that much time to watch others get a Hobbie. No one is perfect.Take time to get to know people and you might find that they are just like you ,just making it a day at a time.

If your neighbor feels she is being singled out she can come to our monthly council meetings held on the 3rd Monday of each month at our City Hall at 4327 Wingate Road or when a code enforcement meeting is held the first Monday of the month.

Unfornunately the woman I believe you are talking about has been warned or given a citation 11 times since June 2005 for various violations of our city ordinances.  She needs to realize the City of Woodlawn Park is in a urban/suburban area and not in a secluded rural area where you can park your motorcycle, trailer, boat, motorized ski boat, or your automobile in your front yard unless you are washing it.  She has been warned or cited for boats, trailers, appliances, trash, vehicles, and yard waste in and about her front yard

Several neighbors at times have complained to me at times about the above problems, and they have been taken care of.

I'd be interested in more info. if possible. Exactly what do you mean by picked on?

When my wife and I first moved into the neighborhood our dogs had a barking match with someone else's dog that lived on another Woodlawn Park street (no fighting, just a lot of hair-on-end growling, by both dogs) at Walden School, (We had permission to be there with our dogs). We apologized for our dogs part in the situation but found out a year later that the other people still had hard feelings over it and had basically slandered us throughout the neighborhood. I personally went and asked them to stop but all they would talk about is how their dog could have beat up our dog. Then a while back I found out that those same folks, at the time of the incident, were on the city council. Then recently someone told me that those folks are directly related to one of our city's long time officials.

I have always wondered if there was a connection between all that and the nearly impossible time I had in getting a fence permit (5 months I think, start to finish, with 2 months of no replys to my dozen or so requests). Then I was required to build a ridiculous looking fence, allowing no span longer than 50 feet for my 70 foot back yard.

Point is... neighborhood politics can be mean and nasty... be careful who you piss off, and who they are related to.

Rob as I have stated in other replys to citizens of our city if you have a complaint come to our Council Meetings the 3rd Monday of each month.  To be honest I do not feel that any of the present council members have used their positions to punish or harass their neighbors, and I don't know if any past members have used their position as you stated.

If you want to discuss this further please call me or any of the other Council Members, our telephone numbers are in the Woodlawn Park City Directory.
