Officer Bob came to my house again for some piddly stuff last night. After 6 years I had had enough and wrote Doug this email in regards to RV not exactly behind the front of the house and not having a fence permit for a fence that was repaired.
I have read and re-read these city ordinances regarding parking and fences.
- Where in parking does it say that an RV has to be parked behind the front of the house.
- How many fence permits do I have to pay for. Why do I have to pay the fee again. There is nothing in the ordinances that says if hurricane IKE destroys your fence and your insurance gives you the money to repair it you have to pay an additional fence permit fee. That fence is basically in the same place it has been for four years and all of a sudden I am getting problems with it because the neighbors decided to put theirs all the way to the front of their house. The only thing I have done that may throw it off is that I pulled my deck in to give more driveway room for the garage we just build, and yes I had a permit for it. But the fence didn’t have a problem four years ago. I did have to pay the fence permit after the fact, which I paid directly to the mayor because I failed to do it prior. But none the less, I did pay for a fence permit.
I have owned my house for almost 6 years and every step of the way of repairing this house has been met with harassment on a constant basis. Even cutting down the trees was too much. It rained for most of the spring 2 years ago and anyone could see that every dry moment that I wasn’t at my day job, I was out there clearing the trees away. It took me three weeks and that wasn’t quick enough I still had to get harassed about it. If anyone paid any real attention they should know that this house appraises for almost a quarter of a million dollars now. A hundred thousand more than it did when I bought it six years ago. It had a falling down mud room, a shed I just pushed over from rot, chicken wire fence, trees everywhere, a front porch falling down, shutters that were rotted, lights in the front that were damaged, not to mention what the inside looked like. I am not someone who has a lot of money. I have done everything I have done to this house working 2 jobs, raising a small boy and going to school 1 credit shy of full time. Most of my spare time was on this house with a little bit of R & R for my son. Has anyone even bothered to look at the front porch, shutters, lights, the garage we built with our own sweat and labor. So what if the RV is in front of the house by two feet. This piddly stuff is for the birds. The house looks great compared to what it did 6 years ago and we are still planning on doing more. Next spring will be the front land scape, but in this economy things take time. I totally understand, cars on bricks broken down in the front, lawns that are overgrown, dilapidated houses, but come on an RV not far enough back that’s piddly and not to mention, I don’t see an RV mentioned in the ordinances, nor do I see where I have to pay for a fence permit to repair my fence that was trashed due to storm damage from IKE.
I guess someone has to clarify things for me instead of peopleconstantly complaining.
