Carter Riverside Neighborhood Association

Recently we have had two young people knock on the door.  They each said they lived in the neighborhood  and were raising money for a trip, selling books.  In Dallas when we lived there this type of solicitation was reported as a scam.  I am wondering if these kids are legit or part of another group canvassing neighborhoods, let off by vans and picked up later.  Has anyone in the neighborhood got any information, had a similar solicitiation, also be concerned about our residents being taken advantage of. One refused to tell us where on Green River she lived.....

If you don't know who it is at your door (i.e., if it isn't a police or fire officer or a public utility representative showing an ID, or someone you're expecting who you know by name), then don't answer the door!!!!

 

Solicitors don't pay attention to signs stating "No Solicitors", they will knock anyway, especially if they are in truth criminals attempting to gain access to your house.

 

We have entirely too many peddlers and solicitors roaming the streets in this neighborhood.  If people would stop answering their doors and engaging these people, then they would probably stop canvassing the neighborhood.
