Thanks for posting this article! Its an eye-opener. I personally do not want to see our HOA dues be raised either. I'm not sure how many homes in Castlegate are currently bank-owned... but we have at least 2 on our stree... and 3 more that are suspect. With the potential for so many homes being bank owned, and the lack of those homes submitting HOA dues, should be concerned about HOA increases? I think we should.
I also think that we should look further than our own front yards, because the house that doesn't sell or sells at a lesser price then the bank is offering (because the yard isn't kept up) will surely decease our home values. Yes, the home values have gone down, but when there is a surplus that is bound to happen- and it could be worse. In additional to be unkept, neglected landscape is a terrific place for rodents, snakes, and bugs/spiders to move in...
A thought to consider... being a neighborhood block volunteer, to assist in rallying the neighborhood neighbors to keep up the abandoned homes on their streets/block?
