Colonial Acres

early Halloween decor

Fall Decorations

I was out in Collierville this morning and I really liked what I saw near the old square. Every light post for several blocks around the square was decorated with a shuck of corn stalks (some had bales of hay too) with potted mums and pumpkins of all sizes and late summer squash surrounding the base.
I want to do that too but where can I get a 8' tall glow in the dark skeleton?

Halloween Decorations

I love it.... My husband and I put our decorations out last night. We drove around the neighborhood to look and see what others have done, sadly not much (between Colonial/Mt. Moriah, Quince/Willow). Let's all get into the spirit and decorate. I hope that on the 31st we have hundreds of children out trick or treating.

Trick-or-treating

Lisa, I hope you are not serious about having 100's of trick-or-treaters?? I thought children went to the Fall Festivals at the local churches now a days. Even my neighbors that have kids of trick-or-treating age have never been over to knock on my door expecting candy. I am not trying to be an old fuddy duddy but its not safe in todays world to be sending kids out in the streets and up to strangers houses begging for candy, its not 1955 anymore.

trick or treating negatory

I agree.
Last year, we had (no exaggeration) hordes of teenagers not in costume, (lest you consider baggy pants and gold teeth a costume)come to the door 10-15 @ a time acting rude and not saying ''trick or treat'' much less ''thank you''
In fact, some would throw the candy we gave them down in the yard and trample through the flower beds. I suppose these kids rode the bus or were dropped off here because I had never seen any of them before. Oh and to top the evening off, my wife was talking to a friend in front of the house and was pelted with eggs by some kids in an acura. I plan on sitting in the living room with the lights out this year for halloween, hoping that these teens get the apple/razor blade treatment.
(just kidding)
these kids were clearly not from the neighborhood and shouldn't be allowed to roam through it on halloween.
