It disheartens me to read about and personally witness individuals coming into our neighborhood and trying to pull our section of the city down to their level. I am bothered by the lack of respect our fellow man/woman has for our lives, welfare and belongings.
Yesterday, a neighbor of mine was having contractors work on their home and 3 individuals pulled up to the back of the contract's truck and rob them of tools, equipment and peace of mind. This was a crime of opportunity and occurred in the broad daylight.
These events are becoming more frequent in Colonial Acres and starting to hit closer to home. Gone are the days when you can leave your front door unlocked while you are working in the back. These people have no regard for our well being and will rob you silly in a matter of seconds.
I love this neighborhood. It is one of the remain communities in Memphis that still has charm and people living in it that care about it remaining unique. But, I am not sure how long my family can live in a place were crime and a level of watching behind you at all times are considered 'normal'.
Get out, meet your neighbors and protect our neigborhood from further deterioration.
