Hi I live on Colonial next door to the owner of the two black dogs that are constantly seen running at large throughout our neighborhood. I have spoken to many of our neighbors about this problem. People have seen these dogs out at all times during the day. I have received written letters from some of you on my door. I would like to say these dogs are not mine. These dogs have been seen chasing elderly residents, children walking from nearby schools, etc. I have spoken with the owner of the dogs and he refuses to keep them contained. I have called animal control and the police as well. Nothing appears to be making any progress in controlling this problem. Does anyone have any other ideas or know anyone that could possibly help this situation. The black pit-mix is an aggressive fear biter. Be aware this dog could possibly attack yourself or your children. This dog has attempted to bite myself as well as my dog. Please let me know what else can be done if you have any ideas...

Thanks!

P.S. the dogs belong to a man named Tommy who resides at 1269 Colonial Rd

Loose dangerous animals are a city code violation.   Call the Police and Citizens Alliance representative (ask for the PACA rep) at the Mt Moriah police station at 636-4199.  Tommy can be issued a code violation citation and if he doesn't appear in Environmental Court at the Ridgeway station to address the complaint, a warrant for his arrest can be issued.  There's a new emphasis by Judge Potter who heads the court on this type of concern.  This should let him know that his dogs are a danger and that his neighbors can do something about it.

I'm hate to hear about irresponsible pet owners.  The dogs too often pay the price for this neglect.  In case the dogs are aggressive before the city can help, I would suggest getting some good mace/pepper spray.  I like the "Fox" brand.  Of course, don't use it unless you or someone else are in immediate danger.
