Do your part to keep storm drains clear

Posted in: Colonial Acres

Today (12/9) was a good example as to why we should all do our part to keep the drains clear.  At Verne and Amboy the intersection was completely underwater today due to debris put on the street.  The front yards of many houses near this area were being flooded.  As you can imagine the city was of no help with the problem.  Please keep leaves/debris clear on your area of the street and we can prevent this kind of flooding.  I spent about an hour clearing the drains.

Kevin,  I agree with you 100%.  You can't sit around and wait for the city.  It is up to the individuals in the neighborhood to keep our streets clean and to keep leaves and garbage from clogging the gutters and causing the flooding you described.

When was the last time you saw a city street sweeper on your street ??

The last time I saw a sweeper was early last spring.

You might also think about helping the ones that live on the corner with the drains.  These folks get to pick up all the leaves that float down the hill, the debrix that others leave on the curb.  Help your elderly neighbors, too!
