Yes folks, Fellowship Memphis is holding Church Service in our School. Aside from violating our constitution- separation of church and state- they are using a government building - that we all paid for with our taxes- to hold their church services.  I questioned them about it today and this is what I've found out:

They have a lease - or so they say- with the City school board to hold church service in Colonial Acres Middle School. They are advertising their services- along with directions- to our neighborhood on their web site. So we are being over run by people who do not belong in our neighborhood and have no problem breaking the law.

All of us know our neighbors and where they live. We don't need a steady stream of strange vehicles in our midst. This only draws in criminals and makes it easier for them to hide.

When I advised them  tax payer dollars are being used to heat and air condition the school (when most of us can barely afford our own MLGW bills) this "pastor" had the nerve to tell me "they've done more for the school than we ever will".

I sincerely doubt these people paid the $50 million to put the building up.  We did, and I am highly insulted as the rest of this neighborhood should be.  I doubt they will be the ones paying the extra $57 million to the Board of Education either.

I am urging every one to contact the city officials and tell them we will not stand for this. We must keep our neighborhood safe.

Thanks for your support,

BA

What about insurance, are these folks carring insurance on the property, to protect the taxpayer of the city.

Not to my knowledge. They are, however, asking for $70,000 in donations so they can re-work the lighting and sound in the school auditorium to suit the church's needs.

These people are not concerned about the kids in the school or our neighborhood.
