Broomfield Problem

Ethics Definition

You're right - and I'm most guilty, 'cause I solicited the definitions and didn't even post one myself. I will - I need a little time to develop it.

But I liked yours (or Websters ... or whatever). So maybe we all share a common or similar definition. Maybe it's that we all see the process of achieving ethics differently.

I'm not sure of the right words to explain what i'm thinking here. Kind of... Does the end justify the means? kind of thing.

I just used "Big Bad Wolf" for a nick name because it seemed to fit the house building metaphor in a fun way. If you like it ... then let's keep it. But if you don't, that's ok too. But, in that case, maybe you could pick some sort of tag - plain old "anonymous" is confusing for us - several have come and gone over the course of this board.

OK, I pulled out my Webster's and guess what; Anonymous left off part of the definition of Ethics:

ethic: the discipline dealing with what is good and bad and with moral duty and obligation: 2a, A set of moral principles or values; b: a theory or system of moral values; the principle of conduct governing an individual or a group

ethical: of or relating to ethics; conforming to accepted esp. professional standards of conduct;

syn; see moral

moral: of or relating to principles of right and wrong in behavior; b. expressing or teaching a standard of right behavior; c. conforming to a standard of right behavior; d. sanctioned by or operaive, on one's conscience or ethical judgement; e. capable of right and wrong action.

Moral may be opposed to immoral in implying comformity to a standard of what is good and right; or it may contrast wit hintellectual or aesthetic as being concerned wit hcharacter or conduct ranther than achievement, beauty, success, logical perfection; ETHICAL MAY SUGGEST THE INVOLVEMENT OF MORE DIFFICULT OR SUBTLE QUESTIONS OF RIGHTNESS, FAIRNESS, OR EQUITY.

To WW more definitions

Right: adherence to duty; obedience to lawful authority, or other qualities that together constitute the ideal of moral propriety or merit moral approval.. The cause of truth or justice
Plus other definitions on land ownership; party affiliation, etc.

Truth: (for Anon!): a.the state of being the case; b.the body of real things, events and facts: ..agreement with fact or among true facts or propositions

Syn: veracity: may apply to an idean adstraction of conforming to a universal or generalized reality or it may represent a quality of statements, acts, or feelings adhering to relaity and avoiding error and falsehood.

Good: 1. something that is good. 2. (1) something conforming to the moral order of the universe. (2) PRAISEWORTHY CHARACTER

So now we have all met Webster; I wonder if anon can understand this; or how he utilizes the complete definiton of ethics in passion to defend unethical government.

Seriously

Hey BBW, its more like serious lies. Again, your 'serious' little speech earlier was right out of the Broomfield Council propaganda.

You want to know about 'serious'? It is a matter of grave seriousness when elected officials so boldly abuse the trust empowered to them by the people.

It is a serious danger to our entire system of government, when elected officials so totally believe their own manufactured press.

Don't repeat your 'created' vote by the Broomfield citizens. They NEVER authorized it.

I think back to the French Revolution: the leaders were only concerned with themselves and didn't care what the peasants needed; didn't care the peasants were starved.

For this, the terror started, and the streets ran red.

We hope society has progressed significantly since then. Government by the citizens/for the citizens.

Broomfield citizens WILL take their government back.
