I know this was directed to Joan but I have an opinion (as usual) on growth. Personally, I'm tired of seeing 'new" things going in all the time. I mean, just how many corner gas stations do we need?? Seems like it is a race between cities to see who can get the top businesses in. And then they wonder why we have a pollution problem, housing that the average person cannot afford, overcrowded schools, traffic congestion...etc...When we moved here 7 years ago from Utah there was nothing but "open" space if you will where we live. Now our view is of office buildings. I suppose if we could afford to move we would. I'm tired of growth and I truly wonder what it is going to take for our governments to realize that enough is enough!! Bigger is not better, it makes the quality of life worse. Soon, there will be no such thing as "open space".

To BBW - ditto

Yes, BBW, I would love to see a list of OS acquisitions underway (not counting ROW for a proposed highway that the citizens don't want and apparently have no say about).

Also, please explain to me just how a conservation easement (which could have just as well been given to ANY land trust organization) is of meaningful value to Broomfield citizens. As I see it, a CE only adds further protection that land will not be developed, and as far as I know, Boulder County has NEVER sold or developed any of its open space lands. Do you know something different?

If Boulder County won't sell or develop its land, then putting a CE on it is kind of like putting an ice coating on a popcicle, don't you think? And giving the CE to Broomfield is kind of like putting the wolf in charge of the sheep.

And, YES, I have complimented BCC on a few of their actions (for example, the purchase of "the field" and subsequent discussions with real public input).

The election of Berens is of extreme disappointment to me; mainly because of the reason you cited; the faxing of a false statement as a press release against Larry Cooper. Combined with the attack on Westy citizens the day after the jail decision; I have learned that Berens will go to any and every extreme to foster his personal agendas. If you remember correctly; the Post article talked about Berens be-rating jail critics (meaning your group), threatened to move the jail closer to your Countryside if you did not go away; and in essence acted out these actions against Larry Cooper. It was a campaign where Cooper really worked hard; and I feel Berens was pressured into believing he would have to do something more to win. First, he tried to make it a bi-partisan race by sending our letters of his Republican affiliation; second he went to the level of falsifying information.

Both worked hard on keeping the campaign clean; except for missing signs; everyone has this happen to them. This is not the area of exception for any candidate.

What is really frightening is the actions of Berens were overlooked by the electorate. I guess I am wondering how this could easily be ignored as "politics" in such a small community; or am I to accept this as acceptable behaviors by a now re-elected member of our leadership in BF. Scary.

To BBW,

BBW, it is not my intent to find fault with all that the council has done or will do in the future. However, it is my right to ask questions to gather a complete understanding of their decisions. I would like to remind you that in the council meetings, which everyone can attend; comments are only welcomed on subjects NOT LISTED ON THE AGENDA, unless it is publicized as a public hearing. The IGA with Boulder County was not publicized as a public hearing. Nor does it occur on any agenda or notice as being discussed. When, if you are so certain that public hearings were held on the matter; please expand on the exact date and times these happened.
BBW, I harbor no antagonisms toward you; and I doubt that I will have reason to do so. However, you are so entrenched in your defense of BF that I sometimes feel you are refusing to face the details of the events that are discussed here.

From your point of view; why do we not have the right to ask these questions?
I will not degrade your viewpoint; but I do think that you, in your passionate defense of BF, deserve the answers as well as this group.
