Wha't the difference?

Broomfield is the great abuser here. Broomfield was a small community without excessive growth bordered by the poorly planned development of Westminster and Superior. I can recall standing with both citizens and a few council members at Josh's Pond looking at Superior one evening. And, an agreement was made that Broomfield would never look like Superior. Now, take a look at the Broadlands. The housing lots are smaller than Rock Creek, the monontony of the homes by each builder is definitely ugly; most exteriors are lower quality and against the Master Plan, the number of homes currently exceeds the final agreement; the Master Plan and its requirements were intentionally forgotten. But then, the developer of the Broadlands gave the pro-county group thousands of dollars in donations. Again, the council is for sale for the right price.
Broadlands, Interlocken and the NWP are prime examples of the council and the city staff catering to the special interest groups. I wonder if the council and staff send their day planners to Jim Long for approval of their activities?

Why should anyone reveal their name when you, Linda, keep hiding your identity. Does it make a difference who is asking; are certain residents chosen for information in Broomfield, and others not chosen.
Are you trying to decide if this anonymous is one of the PRIVELEGED CIRCLE MEMBERS: or one of the residents who should keep their mouth shut. It is, "the residents who should keep their mouth shut" that generate the numbers in support.
You are the phony Linda; and, no doubt, a very bitter person because you cannot control this board. I live in BF, and you, as a member of the council are an embarrassment (someone else pointed this out); this council runs on fear of the people, that is why nothing is ever made public.
BR Anon posted questions for you to answer, you responded with filthy name calling, bad poetry, complete degradation of character. Who lost. You did, Linda, Ward 5 representative, BF city council; you showed your true colors and the colors of the City of Broomfield. I hope you and Bill and Hank sleep well at night; you are lying coniving trash. Unfortunately, you are pulling all of the council into this gutter of rapport. Welcome, to Broomfield.
And yes, I agree, the Broadlands is a more ugly development that Superior or Westminster could ever approve; and Broomfield is into excessive development and destruction of open space.
By the way; why all the money to buy votes for the NWP; and where did the money come from to in the opening balance for the council's vote yes committee, and why is everything discussed in the city manager's notes. A honest person would answer these questions; as a council member are you honest? Doubt it; really doubt it.

John - Support the RGA

John everything you mention has some validity to it. You express concerns that are statewide. First, let me give you a reason as to why so many people are moving here. The number one issue is quality of life. They left communities filled with traffic, crime, pollution and very little repect for what people want, open space and tranquility. Believe it or not, many of these people took tremendous pay cuts to be here. This is why you have so many outspoken new comers that are committed to preserving what Colorado has left, they have seen something we haven't and are trying to make their voices heard. So, lets not knock what they say. By the way, I am a native of this state and am very concerned about what we have lost.

So, I will pitch again why I support Bryan Sullivant's Responsible Growth Act (RGA). You call it a growth generator but what it really is is an act that looks at how communities should grow responsibly by building sustainable communities. This entails a balance of commercial, employment, housing, open space and urban growth boundaries. These factors and associated costs are all weighed against each other. Multiple hearings are then held discussing these issues, then the municipality or county takes an actual vote of the people to accept the plan or not. If accepted, then it an enforceable comprehensive land plan. If it fails, then we go back to the drawing board.

Broomfield, and Westminster for that matter, have grown irresponsibly. In the case of Broomfield, they have built Interlocken and the mall but have not generated enough homes in their own community to supply the labor to run these businesses, so now what you have is people commuting into Broomfield's employment centers that do not even live here. What the act would have forced Broomfield to do is say, okay, you brought it in, now you take care of it, instead of creating traffic and growth problems for the other communities.

Let me give you another example of what this Act would have done. For example, the NWP. Discussion of this highway was never really done at the strategic planning level or for that matter, it has never even gone to a vote. Yet, Broomfield gets on the voting board acting as the elected official representing their citizens, which how could they do that as they never even got a vote from us, and have proceeded monopolizing the project because of some quirky omissions in the law. Oh, by the way, if this parkway would fail, which is very unlikely as Broomfield controls the whole thing, did Broomfield citizens know that one million of their tax dollars would be appropriated back to Interlocken to mitigate Interlockens expenses?

The NWP is a sprawl way and will cost everyone despite how you state the construction costs are funded.

The NWP is being built to support Interlocken 2. When Broomfield allows this to occur it again perpetuates another cycle of creating jobs, but becoming unaccountable for the roof tops that will follow. This is what creates the problem, this is irresponsible growth and this is what Bryan Sullivant wants changed. Because right now, every issue with this growth problem is addressed on a volunteer basis, the corporations know it and so do developers like Jon Lee and they play on it. You, yes you, are being simply sucked into believing that our population is expanding at such rate and our economy is booming so much that we should accept this growth. But in reality what you and so many other progrowth entities really do not see is that you are actually creating the growth by failing to realize the impacts of your actions. Sullivant wants this changed, he wants the voice of the people heard for a change and I SUPPORT his efforts.

City Manager's notes, etc...

Yep, hiding council biz in the city manager's notes is one trick. As you probably know, they also discuss certain 'special' topics late late at night. 1am & 2am. And notice of public hearings are not always posted where they are supposed to be... if they are posted at all. God forbid citizens are given a true opportunity to participate and express opinion. Citizens were completely shut out of the beginning stages of the county formation, and then BAM, it was on the state ballot.

Of course, BF always points to the ADVISORY question vote. That argument wears soooo thin.

I really got a laugh out of Linda-Johns reference of not knowing who she is having discussions with. So she thinks the insults she hurls qualifies as 'discussion'??? Well, of course she does. She's on the Broomfield city council.

I am very pleased to read in the RMN this morn that State Legislators are questioning Broomfield changing judicial districts. This one won't sail thru clean & easy like they hoped.

What happened to having LOCAL SERVICES folks? IF the judicial district changes, the west Broomfield people will have to drive all the way to Brighton.

All this mess for Interlocken & NWP. Shameful...
