SNOUFFER ROAD RR CONSTRUCTION

Response to Not Opposed

Traffic concerns are probably the number one concern of Far NW residents. While I am not an engineer,it does not take a rocket scientist to intuitively know that now is not the best time to do this. FNWC does have an Engineer on its Board, Alan Kundtz, who I greatly respect and who voiced his displeasure with the timimg. If the professionals believe it is a critical need for safety purposes to do this, then I trust their professionalism. However, delay seems to be far better given the current amount of construction activity. Furthermore, if Columbus and Franklin County will work together on this for a long term solution and can do it in the next decade, then this project may be wasting taxpayer dollars, which is a concern. The purpose of this discussion is to see how people generally feel and attempt to discuss this and arrive at our community consensus. This message will go to various government entities to get their reaction and see if they are open-minded and flexible with this plan. If you continue to have a dissenting opinion, I respect that and invite you to address FNWC on June 30th at 7 PM at the NW Library. Participation in community civic groups is a grassroots government effort. I am but one voice and I hope to hear from many others. Group think is proven to be far superior to what either you or I think individually, so I hope you will come and add your input to our group discussion.

SNOUFFER ROAD RR CONSTRUCTION

FYI, According to Fran Netting from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), there has been only one accident in the 10 years for which they have records. A van stalled on 12/20/98 at 5:15 P.M., due to a mechanical failure. All who were in the vehicle escaped before the train hit the vehicle. So where is the Safety issue with a crossing that has a train blowing its horn, alarms on the crossing and gates ??? If we are only talking about a pedestrian issue, it seems we should save our tax dollars and do a $10,000 fix to improve the pedestrian crossing. What do you think ???

railroad crossing

John, I think we have to do some kind of improvement at that crossing before the Hard Rd. crossing is closed. I don't like spending the money on a temporary fix and I wouldn't want the neighbors to suffer any more inconvenience BUT....its so bad as it is, something has to be done.
