Chris;

The burglary that occurred in Woodlawn Park happened sometime between 08:30/14:00 hours or 08:30am/02:00pm yesterday 12/22/08.  The burglaries that have occurred in the Goose Creek area appear to happen in the AM while people are sleeping.  They will probably stop when a homeowner shoots the Burglar.

It was my home that was broken into. I don't work and my schedule is not too predictable. I could have easly walked in on the robbery in progress. The lock on the back door was easily forced. (I knew it wasn't really secure, but had a false sense of security). I think the robbers are experienced in that they seem to have a "shopping list" that allows them to get in and out in a hurry. There was no evidence that they were stopping to look for just anything of value. They grabbed the flat screen TV, laptop computer, and any jewelry that sparkled. They also grabbed an extra set of keys that were sitting out.

My daughter walks a lot through the neighborhood and had noticed a man sitting in a white van at a couple of different locations. It was odd enough to get her attention. Now she wishes she had gotten a license number. It may not be related to my robbery, but it could be.

Yes, I have now had all my locks changed and will be diligent in protecting my home.

Did it look like this one, with a black grill, paint faded, white male in his late 40's to early 50's driving?

If so, I saw it come into the neighborhood at 7:45am that day at Walser and Westport as I was heading out to work. My first though when I saw it was, hmm, I might need to go back home, he looks like he is up to no good.

The one I saw was mid to late 70's, faded white, black grill, definitely a chevy.

Not to cause controversy, but how often does our police officer actually patrol the neighborhood? I see the car often at the City House, but never traveling through the neighborhood. With such a small area to cover, shouldn't he know the area well enough to know if something is out of the ordinary (i.e. an unfamiliar van parked on the street or in someone's driveway) and investigate?

I don't usually get worked up over break-ins or property theft reports. It's just stuff and it's replaceable. But this is a scary situation if this individual is unconcerned with whether or not a homeowner is present during the burglaries. Which tells me he must be armed...this is pretty serious. Is the city unconcerned about our safety?
