Dues

I can appreciate the $480 annual dues not rising as a result of the new fountain. Also, it is good to know that there is plenty of funds available for future projects and liabilities. That being said, do we have too much money available in reserves? Is $480 annual dues necessary? Maybe based upon our operating costs and adjustment could be made to lower dues. Let us be cautious that just because the money is there is not a reason to spend it. Appreciate the comments and dialogue.

My liberal use of the term ''gross misappropriation of funds'' was not meant to accuse the board of criminal or deceitful behavior. It was my way of saying the funds were better spent on items of higher priority, in my opinion of course.

Reserve level

While I won't speak for the rest of the members of the board, I do not think we have too much money available in reserves for unplanned, emergency expenditures. In addition, the board has discussed this matter with our SBB property manager (who, of course, has professional experience in this regards), and she also felt that we didn't have too much in the way of excess reserves.

Could the $480 per year dues level be lower? Probably, to some extent (in my opinion), but that would also mean that our association would not have as much, if any, extra money to fund some of the major capital expenditures that are currently being investigated by various persons/committees. And the extent to which the dues could be lowered is probably not that much in relation to the current assessment level.

I agree we should be cautious and not spend money just to be spending money. I believe I can safely say that the entire board feels this way as well.
