It's Dead For Now!

Once again this issue is dead for now. It keeps surfacing every so often however. (You can also subscribe to our monthly newsletter to keep up on issues and events in the neighborhood.) It's been my experience that you can't fight zoning changes by e-mail. These types of issues need people to come to meetings when votes on issues are taken, or when information is given. VV/E CA has to count raised hands and then transmit that information to the proper source in order for a neighborhood association to be effective. So e-mailing is great, at times, but not the best way to support a position on an issue as important as a zoning change.

IT's ALIVE AGAIN!

A new developer will be presenting another proposed development for this property, April 25, 2000, 7 p.m., at the University View Christian Church, 4401 E. Mexico Ave. (Enter from parking lot to the north of church and look for "Allen Hall" as the meeting place.)

Don't have the details on the proposal until the meeting but it is "roughly" townhomes, and it will require a zoning change. Stay tuned, or better yet attend the meeting!

It's Still Alive

Had the first preliminary meeting with the developer 4/25/00. They estimated that they would want another meeting in approximately 6-8 weeks later.

The proposal is basically to rezone the strip along Bails to allow 2 single family detached units, 2 duplex units and 4 attached townhouse row units. The side along Jewell would not be built out to its R2A zoning max. and would have 2 ten unit (2-stories high) condo building. All of the grounds would be maintained by a Homeowners Assoc. There weren't many specific details at this preliminary meeting, those will be forthcoming as the developers go forward with the process of developing and rezoning. Reaction from those attending was generally not negative, but they needed to "see more" details.
