I do know what the petition process is like and it really is a lot of work. Getting the petitions printed is also expensive. While I wish you were not circulating petitions, your approach is very dignified. Now, keep in mind I do not wish you success with the peitions. But, I do wish you success in everything else you do.

Actually, I am uncertain if you would like to argue about this or not; but I have a hot topic that I still think is incomplete.
As you have, most likely, discovered from this board; I am a true believer of open space, that is the preservation of pure dirt in his natural habit; with room for natural widelife to maintain their habitat. Unlike the mayor who promotes a "petting zoo" something like this makes me totally nauseated to my stomach and creates major headaches.
At the same time I feel the youth of our town have been deprived of attention for too long; I am in favor of purchasing (NOW) at least 100-120 acres of land east of Sheridan (this location because of new growth will be most dominate here); and building an arts center, a sports complex, a teen center, and all the different fields necessary to support our youth. Granted the resolution the other night began this search for FIELDS; but there was NOT a commitment for a sports complex and teen center and arts center. Additionally, I want 500-600 foot open buffers for all adjoining neighborhoods; possibly developed like the walkway behind Kings (to give a reason to use alternative transportation); and to stop the argument before it starts about noise and traffic.
I do not understand how we can claim money is an issue; when we are increasing our income every day.
Also, since I recently learned that we are "de-bruced" this commitment can be accomplished WITHOUT a citizen vote; and I do not know of any citizen who would oppose it; even though I know there will be some. I understand that Parks and Recreation has been requested to find a sight by April (I hope that is April 2000 and not 2001; but it does not include the three complexes above. In my opinion this is incomplete.
That is one question you can answer for me; when and how did we become "De-bruced", I got into this by wondering why the cost was always the question on the two above facilities. Personally, I do believe if there was a true dedication to the youth; then the council would find a way to get this done. I do not see that dedication. IF not, I will support COPS funding. As we have learned, nothing is getting cheaper.

Hello BBW. Glad to see you are back & the board will enjoy fruitful discussion.
If its not too much of an imposition, help us understand Certificates of Participation.
Alot of cities use this method to finance projects. Is it not creating a debt for the city?
Many thanks!

Well shall you and I try to be more civil this time?? You know how I feel and I know how you feel, lets just leave it at that ok?? I'd much rather have you hear than John or Margaret who seem to be very uninformed. Yes, its hard work getting all the signatures we need but it also amazes me that people are willing to take the time to stop and listen to what the group has to say and want to know more about everything that has happened. Maybe I have misjudged our community a little, they actually do care about their government, which is a VERY good thing!
