You know, it just seems like our kids have to deal with a lot of serious issues nowadays. Kids killing kids, gangs, drugs, Kosovo... It seems like it never ends. I worry that they may feel helpless as they just watch these things happen.
In speaking with Brian, it occured to me that maybe we could help them to feel like they're not so helpless. I'm interested in starting a neighborhood volunteerism project with the kids. Something where, perhaps, they take action to improve the appearance of our neighborhood (for a nominal fee) and, in turn, give that money to charity. Or something of that nature.
The point would be for them to do something to improve the general state of mankind. That way they learn that they have the power to change things.
Please let me know if any of you are interested in letting your kid/s participate or in helping out with a project such as this.
Thanks
