Do the residents just not engage in this site? I find it hard to believe noone in the Emerald Mountain Subdivision does not send there kids to Emerald Mountain Christian School that could reply to my thread about questions about the school?

If the case is noone does that don't give me a real warm and fuzzy about the school.

Anyhow I thought I'd make one last gasp to get info on it. Since i'm not there to tour it and get up and close to get a real feel I thougth I'd rely on you subject matter experts :)

Take care and god bless

i wouldnt make that assumption so quickly...

It is my opinion that very FEW residents, if not the vast majority, use this site/forum.

There are about 500 homes in Emerald Mountain and I dare say we have even 5% of the residents using this site/forum.

I try to leave my home before 6::30 am because thats when the buses come through the neighborhood... it makes many stops, so many kids go to Wetumpkas public school. my neighbor sends their kid to Prattville Christian Academy (good school but a LONG drive), some more neighbors go to Saint James School, Trinity, and ACA.

I personally dont kow anyone going to Emerald Mountain Christian school, but that doesnt mean many residents dont... they just dont visit this site.

We have just moved to Emerald Mountain, but before doing so we checked out Emerald Mountain Christian School and compared it to the other school that we were going to send our child to. I talked with the Headmaster David Ames and he was very helpful. I was sent a packet about the school and feel like sending our son to EMCS starting with the PreK-$ class will be the best option for us. Mr. Ames said there were about 100 students at the school and they were very strict when it came to biblical, education, and discipline. If you look at the 2007 Newsletter that is posted on this site you will see a photo of some children who attend the school and underneath there is a list of families who live in EM that send their children to the school. I would have hoped there would have been more, who knows there could be. I really did not know the school existed until we started looking at moving to this area in Wetumpka. I am glad it does, because I have yet to hear one negative thing about the school. The only thing I have been told that to me was not negative, was that a family I know pulled the first of their three children out because they were too strict. The way the school systems have turned out these days I really do not think a school can be too strict. The children start learning when they enter the preschool program and it is not a full day of play. Something else I found out is that the students are taught a bible verse that they must learn each week in accordance with the alphabet to teach them about both. I think you will find that a lot of people will send their children to the new Redland school when it opens for many reasons... mainly because it will be free. Then make a ton of excuses as to why it will be such a better school for so many other reasons than explaining their finances to people. I am sure it will be a wonderful school, just not the right school for us. When my son starts the school I plan on being very involved and promote the school in every way I can.

About this site, I really do not think many people are aware of it to much because the few people that I know who live in Elerald Mountain and have for years did not even know it existed.

You may be the other parent Mrs. Ames spoke to me about.  Are you planning on working at the school as well? If so you probably are the person she spoke about.  As I've said previously we have 2nd, 1st and Kindergarten age child. They are the 3 we plan to send there this year.  We only wish they had a PreK-3 program as well. With that said wife would love to work there but our dilemma will be what would we do with our 3 yr old son.  Perhaps we can trade off? What a trade one 3 yr old for another one lol.  I fear it would cost us more for care for him then she would get helping out on tuition lol.

I'm about 95% sure we sending them there. It's just so hard deciding on a school without actually walking through the doors and getting a true feeling. Not to mention the cost when you are sending not 1 but 3 children. I'll be honest truly we can't afford it but we not fond of the long bus ride each morning to Wetumpka; especially when we have kids so young doing so. Plus, makes for long, long day. I heard the bus picks up at 6:45 and don't get home till 4pm. Yikes!

Take care and thanks for some more insight.
