Will there be notes posted from the crime watch meeting? I was unable to attend.

We do not plan to post a summary of the crime watch meeting from last thursday.  The following is a very brief summary of what occured at the meeting.

About 40 neighbors were in attendance and two officers from metro police provided a very entertaining discussion on "their beat" in our northwest district.  Free pizza was provided by Papa Johns and free refreshments were provided by board members.  The police commented on how well attended our meeting was compared to most neighborhoods they visit.  They also commented on the relatively few calls they get to Farley compared to some other surrounding neighborhoods.  They also said that criminals in vehicles sometimes drive into Farley to get off the main roads and sometimes can't find their way out.  We are encouraged to call 911 for any suspicious activity that you may observe in the neighborhood.  Also, if you see teens walking our streets on school days during school hours you are encourage to call the police.  Remember to be prepared to justify any action that you take in defending yourself and your property.  The law is our your side.   The next crime watch meeting is scheduled for June.

If you can get a day and time set in June can we get it posted on here or relayed to residents in some other fashion other than a couple of signs posted a few days before hand? Is it possible to have a list of police runs with cause that can be passed out to residents attending? Maybe the officers attending would have access to this. I think this would be helpful to have so residents can see what type of activity is in the community. I think it would help bring awareness to unwanted activities.Im sure you agree any info that can be passed along would help reduce crime! Any thoughts?

Thanks for the helpful suggestions Brad W.  We are continually trying to improve.  Check out the website link below.  The city offiers this tool so that everyone can check on the latest police runs for the entire county.

The crime watch group also sends out emails to those who have signed up to recieve crime watch notices.

We have tried to steer away from delivering bulletins for each crime watch meeting because of the cost in copying 800 bulletins and then delivering the bulletins to everyones home can be very time consuming.

Communication and participation are the keys to a good crime watch program.  Great neighbors make great neighborhoods.  Pat Colcord
