Also, as Jeremy relayed to you in an email ( I chatted with him today about this), the rate Maxx charges for towing, is a discount rate compared to their normal rate.  They vary their rate depending on the part of town, vehicle, etc, and for some businesses.  Until recently, I was unaware that they charged a mileage rate along with a hook rate, but all of their rates must be approved by the PUC (Public Utilities Commission).  If this had been a City tow, it would have been worse as they would have also given you a $50.00 parking ticket that you have to pay before you can pick up your car, so the total would have been even more.

I know they have complaints and issues, but it's not uncommon.  Years ago almost every tow company did private parking tows, then becuase of ripoffs, complaints, etc., they all but stopped doing them.  It's only been in the last 10 yrs that companies have gotten back into it.

Wow, I didn't know that. Thank you so much for the info! I wasn't aware there were so few options, and I'm surely glad it wasn't even more money!

Thanks again,

Laura
