Fielder Park Neighborhood Assn-formerly Briarwood Estates(BENA)

The Beginning of BENA
The Briarwood Estates Neighborhood Association is the brainstorm of Briarwood Blvd. resident
Jeff Dalton. In 2004, Jeff had a vision for his beloved neighborhood - to keep it safe and
beautiful. With a strong desire to maintain the stability and pride of homeownership that exists
in this area, Jeff and his wife Kathy held the first BENA meeting in their home in October 2005.
28 homes were represented at this inaugural meeting.

Jeff completed the City of Arlington’s 8-week Neighborhood Academy course to learn how to
better enhance the neighborhood organization effectiveness, community building, and
information about accessing city services to benefit our neighborhood. Congratulations, Jeff!

BENA has expanded its boundaries to include Briarwood Blvd. (North from Park Row to Smith Lane), Westcrest Drive, Sherwood Drive (to Briarwood Blvd.), Kenwood Terrace, Windmill Court, Colonial Court, Scenic Drive, Raydon Drive, and Powell Drive.

The April 14, 2007 meeting saw an explosion of interest in neighborhood issues which was
reflected in the dramatic increase in attendance with 50 homes represented.

In April 2009, the name was changed to Fielder Park Neighborhood Association.

Community Watch Program

The Neighborhood Community Watch program is a crime prevention program, which enlists the
active participation of citizens in cooperation with law enforcement to reduce crime in their
communities. It involves neighbors getting to know each other, taking time to care about each
other and working together. Citizens are trained to recognize and report suspicious activities in
their neighborhood. Various crime prevention strategies are taught such as home security,
Operation Identification and others. With Operation Identification, you engrave your property with your driver’s license number to discourage burglary and theft.

Citizens On Patrol

Citizens On Patrol is yet another type of neighborhood crime prevention program, which
involves citizens actually patrolling the neighborhood. In order to become a member of
Citizens On Patrol, a resident must be a member of an active community watch group,
