Well, if you choose to sit back and see what happens, then your doing nothing. I'm not saying you can't comment, but they lose a little weight with me. Your right, we had an award winning newsletter. The person who did that was commended. All we need now is another dedicated person with the same skills and time. Untill then, I'm extremly gratful to the person who works hard to produce the one we have now. I don't want to do it. I guess you don't either. Yes, we landscaped the corners and some have not been maintained. All it takes is voluntiers. Sounds easy. Maybe you could rally some up. Maybe the old leaders are just tired for awhile. Maybe garden clubs and drug marches are just a different way to make it work. As for comradship, I have as many ''comrads'' as I have ever had in this neighborhood. No, not some of the same ones as years ago, but a neighborhood changes. This one has certainly changed for the better. If you think the powers that be are always eager to hear my opinion, guess again. But I haven't given up and always still strive to sway the group in the way I believe. If I leave, then others make the decisions. If you give up your voice, don't blame others for forgetting your existance.

I agree with Kathy!

Anonymous, as Kathy points out, if you sign your name, it would show that you stand behind your comments. Otherwise, we really have no reason to take your flaming, venemous attack seriously. Yet, I will address a few things, because you will find that when some anonymous poacher comes in purely to attack Kenwood, we tend to circle the wagons. Number 1, our neighborhood does not ''stink.'' It is a historic jewel with an ideal location, great houses, and really great people. Number two, we are not discussing our issues ''behind closed doors'', as you put it, but in public forums such as this discussion board, our meetings, our porch parties, our newsletter, etc. It is called a ''community''--you can look up that word. But this is how it is woven together and functions--by open discussion and working out our issues. Lastly, by moving into Kenwood and investing in this beautiful neighborhood, we are not ''feeding crime''. Quite the contrary. Crime has dropped markedly in our area in the past few years, particularly drug-related crimes. Why? Because we are a neighborhood that cares, that stands up for safe streets, safe kids, and a safe community. Through efforts such as promoting home ownership/pride-of-ownership, anti-drug marches, Bungalowfest, working with the community police program, neighborhood cleanups, etc. we have sent a clear message that crime is not tolerated in our neighborhood. Our neighborhood is great. We are indeed one of the ''strongest links'' in St. Petersburg. We are the quintessence (look that one up, too) of the St. Pete, which, at it's heart, is a city of neighborhoods that Historic Kenwood represents the ideal of. Shoot, I ended a sentence with a preposition. Other than that, I said what I wanted to say pretty well. So I'll shut up now and close with my name--something us proud Kenwoodians just naturally do when we express something.

LOLOLOL, Diane!!

Yeah, good point! I walk 3 miles through Snell Isle every weekend. Not to dis Snell Isle, 'cause it is a lovely 'hood, but you know what I notice: Their houses are just as close together as ours--so I'm betting they have just as many little soap operas going on. Also, they are in a flood zone and we are not. So, which is the prime real estate, I ask myself? Again, this is not to dis Snell Isle--obviously, I'm quite taken with it's beauty if I choose to walk there. I'm just using it as an example to make a point that I don't know where some people come off acting all snobby-like, as this ''anonymous'' does, about Kenwood. Kenwood is a prime piece of real estate, babies! High and dry and right on the edge of downtown, yet just far enough away so that we don't get all the traffic and noise during special events. Right on the interstate, U.S. 19, accessible to both Tampa and Sarasota--I mean--OUR LOCATION ROCKS!!!!!!!!! I can walk to the Trop, hop on the interstate, walk to schools, shopping, churches, etc. Do I sound like a real estate ad? Well, we do have it all, anonymous, so take note. Kenwood was the bell of the ball once in St. Pete's history, and we are headed that way again. So, is it just sour grapes that compells you (''anonymous'' that is) to come on here and try to dis us? If so, at least use your name.
