As many of you have noticed, the Parish has come in and dug out the ditches in an effort to alleviate our drainage problem. In doing so they managed to dig some ditches too deep and they now hold water. I have been in contact with them and they will take care of the problem. They are also flushing out all the culverts. It is amazing just how blocked up they are. This is a slow process due to availability of man-power and machinery. They were in today and will be back until the task is completed. I am in daily contact with them to get this completed. Please be patient. I was also informed today that we are 30-45 days away from the street overlay. The parish is also available to come in and shoot the proper grade for the installation of culverts for those of you who want your ditches covered. Best Regards, Dwight.

I would like my ditch covered but what do you mean by '' shoot the proper grade''? (may be a dumb question)

Proper Grade

Grade refers to the level of the land. To shoot the proper grade means to make sure that the level of your land(or in this case, the culvert) is not above or below the culverts on each side of you. This ensures that the water will flow freely through the culvert. They will do this for you but anyone wishing to install culverts must get a permit from the Parish to put a culvert in. If a culvert is installed without a permit and having the proper grade shot, the Parish will dig the culvert up and place it in your yard until you get a permit. This has happened before in our subdivision. You can call the Parish Permit department for proper information. Best Regards,Dwight.
