2006 was a good year!

Posted in: Lower Beaver
Well, 2006 has come to an end but we have accomplished much this year.

The Sawyer's Landing project did go forward but with enhancements to the proposed project and an added much needed new storm sewer. Of course, it would have been nice to remain as open space but it was private land and the chance to buy it was years ago. Even one resident had thought of buying it 15 years ago but couldn't justify it. Plan & Zoning did attach many enhancements like either partial brick facades or front porches. The bio-swale was a big issue, not because of what it was designed to do, but what it could become. Management would have been by a home owners association without city supervision and that would not stand. A weed patch was the fear by many.

The MLK Enhancement project has come a long way from a horrible eyesore and continual dumping ground. This has been a labor of love, sweat and blood! Now look at it. From the black chain link fencing the entire length to the 73 hardwood overstory trees, this project is nothing short of first class. Thanks to all that made this project happen.
