Break-in

Posted in: Grayson Park
Just wanted to let everyone know:

First, my home had an attempted break-in. Someone tried to use a crowbar to open my front door. Then they broke one of the little windows by the front door so they could reach in and unlock the door. This happened in broad daylight, so if you see people at the front door and looking suspicious - please be aware.

Danielle, I am very sorry to hear this has happened. We really need to hear if you and the community have ideas regarding safety of our residents. One gentleman is proposing security cameras at the entry/exit of the property at a lower cost. Not sure how effective this would be? There is the volunteer CoP on patrol, with reps I have met at the NCTONA meetings at the SAPD. That requires volunteers, though, to remain an active program. Maybe it would just be fun to find a day training in self defense, and get some residents - especially the ladies!- to attend. Plenty of ideas, just not a lot of takers!

Bottom line: We are interested in hearing your ideas, so let us know. We could use the help!

SAFFE and NCTONA

I am unable to attend the North Central Thousand Oaks Neighborhood Association meeting, but notified my board contact there about the break in. The San Antonio Fear Free Environment Unit (SAFFE) officer for our area is usually there, and my contact will ask him if there have been known break-ins in the local area. It is my understanding that he is an active and concerned public officer, so his being aware of this may alert him to keep a closer eye on our neighborhood.

I highly encourage all residents to report anything suspicious to the San Antonio Police Department immediately. This includes suspicious vehicles and pedestrians; criminal mischief such as graffiti or vandalism; or other nuisance behavior. (Please also follow up with the management company to report nuisance behavior so that violation notices can be sent out.)
