Not sure if the neighborhood knows about the concentrated low-income housing project under review at Colfax & Poplar. I'm all for affordable living, that's why I volunteer for habitat for humanity. But concentrated projects like these are a death nail for neighborhoods. It's been proven many times over that these concentrated projects are a disaster.
I don't think rushing to build low income housing just to fill a vacant lot is such a great idea for our neighborhood. The only one who comes out ahead is the developer. Who, of course doesn't have to live nearby, and does not care about the long term property devaluation of the neighborhood.
