Speed Limt & Stop Signs

Ok, here?’s my opinion. The speed limits are fine being set at 25mph through the section where the RRC homes start and end at Roberta. As far as the long stretch that isn?’t part of our neighborhood, it should ideally be 35mph. But then again people will not reduce their speed when they get to our section. So there?’s no reason to have two different speed limits on this road. When the speed limit is 25mph, most people will drive 35mph. Look at your speedometer the next you are driving through the neighborhood. When the speed limit was 35mph, I am sure that most of you drove 40-45mph. That?’s way too fast to be driving through a neighborhood with this many active people in it. And for those of you who like to walk in the road, please use the nice sidewalks you paid for. They are there for a reason.
And now to the stop signs that everyone either hates or loves. There are way too many for the length of this street. It?’s very annoying to come in off of Morehead and have to stop at 4 stop signs before you can get to Roberta. Especially the streets that only have one road coming off of them. I think the Town of Harrisburg needs to take a close look at the speed humps that Charlotte has implemented into a lot of their cut-through streets. They cause you to slow down but not have to stop at every stretch of road that has a connecting street to it. And to think that some of you actually wanted another stop sign a while back at one of the other t-intersections.
My final verdict is that we should keep the 25mph limits and get rid of the stop sign that connects to town homes (Meadow Glen Ln). You have 3 stop signs within 2/10ths of a mile. Absolutely ridiculous in my opinion.

Stop signs

The stop signs are there for many reasons. One most important one is for allowing residents to cross the street to access the sidewalks. Another reason is even though the speed limit is 25, resients are still flying through, this will hopefully slow them down a little. The speed humps will not work according to the fire department because it will slow them down when responding to an emergency. Are a couple of stop signs really worth getting all worked up about? Since the speed limit has been lowered I leave a few minutes earlier, which is not always an easy task with a little one. I am more upset about cars being parked on the street which to me is dangerous since we have so many children in our neighborhood.

I agree with the speed limit where it is. It is only a problem now b/c nobody can seem to follow it. Day after day I turn off of Morehead and fine someone glued to my ass wanting me to go faster. I also think that some of the stop signs need to go. Remove them from the main road and keep them on the side streets. I constantly come very close to being rear ended when I attempted to stop b/c the person behind me doesn't think you should make a full stop. I got a good chuckle when the officers were giving tickets to the speeders for those few days.

News Flash!

Firetrucks have to stop at all stop signs and redlights whe responding in an emergency fashion and only proceed when the intersection is clear. So, with speedhumps they will only have to slow down and not come to a complete stop. Seems like a better situation to slow down rather than to stop completely.
