Our Bay Crest Park Taxing District is proposing, and the Board supports, a gradual increase in the non-ad valorem tax from the current $15 per year. The first year following approval, you would be assessed $25 pre year. In subsequent years, the taxing Distric would have the disceretion to increase it no more than $5 per year, finally caping at $50 per year. We will keep you posted on the Taxing District efforts to get this on the ballot. Comments?

Tax Increase
Could a further explanation of the benefits derived from this tax be explained? When you understand the benefits you will receive, you are more apt to respond favorably to an increase. Thank you.

BCTax District Tax Increase
This is a much needed action and I applaud the Taxing District for moving out on it. Only by increasing, ever so slightly in this case (less than $1.00 a month) can we continue the momentum underway to improve our community and make things better for all our residents. The Tax District has frankly worked minor miracles with miserly sums of money in terms of upgrades, improvements and maintenance of our common areas over the last few years. They deserve our support and help in making this increase reality. We will all profit from it in the appearance of our neighborhood, quality of life, property values and the type of buyer/renter we will attract to our neighborhood. Please support this INITIATIVE in September.

Tax Increase - What Do I Get?
Mindee: Good question. For starters the Tax district has done a great deal for the general improvement of the community. I would ask you to be at the next Quarterly Meeting in May where we will have a book of pictures reflecting the changes to our common area medains over the last few years. It is a striking change - for the better. Mowing, trimming, fertilizing, watering, mulching and planting of new bushes, trees etc all come from the Tax District funds. Trimming of the over one hundred, yep over one hundred, palm trees throughout the common areas is also a major expense. The Tax District does all this as well as maintenance of the brick entryways at Bay Crest Drive and Lopez Drive. They have redone completely the sprinkler systems throughout the common areas, cleaned and polished the entry way marble signs and done a myriad of other projects and activities that support us all. There are many projects they have considered but not been able to do for lack of funds. Brick entry way paving at Lopez and Bay Crest, a sprinkler system along Memorial Highway in the common area median are among two other projects considered and abandoned for lack of funds. There are others. If you have questions on what other projects the tax district has accomplished on our behalf please call Pat Gillis at 885-4578. I also recall we printed an extensive list of projects last summer or fall in the newsletter. Thanks for your question and appreciate your interest.
