STOP CVS

Posted in: Historic Old Northeast
CVS/Pharmacy plans to to demolish historic buildings and increase traffic with out-of-scale stand-alone drugstore.
CVS, the nation's largest drugstore chain, and its developer MetroGroup propose to acquire, rezone and demolish single family homes and apartment buildings built between 1908 and 1918 on more than half a city block at 4th Street and 9th Avenue North to make way for their Walgreen/Eckerd-type stand-alone drug store. For more information on this, see the website set up at:

http://web.tampabay.rr.com/stopcvs/

This has the maps and site plan to show what CVS plans, which is way out of scale for the neighborhood, will change and increase traffic patterns, and will allow for more intensive uses, such as filling stations, in the future.

observations on 5/31 meeting

looks like CVS and their local attorney think they have this in the bag. also-
something else is obviously going on here. why else the tension among the board members. and why is the facilitator of the meeting obviously
in favor of the project?

check this site

I encourage all resients of Old Northeast to check the above mentioned web site which contains maps and other pertinient information. This will help residents
decide how they would like to vote on
the proposed rezoning at the June 13 meeting.
