Historic Old Northeast Neighborhood Association

Another Board Apology

Posted in: Historic Old Northeast
I would like to offer my apologies to the members of the North Shore Neighborhood Association and all the residents of the Old Northeast.

I was a board member when the vote was taken on May 8 to not oppose the rezoning. I resigned from the board on May 15 because I felt the membership was being denied access to participate in the process. I also felt shut out as a board member because of the cancellation of an emergency board meeting to re- address the issue before a letter was to be sent to the planning commission.

I had hoped that my resignation would force the board leadership to open the process.

I sincerely regret the board's actions of May 8th, of which I was a part.

I continue to be very distressed as I have seen the board leadership continue to try and keep the process closed. It should never have taken a 10% petition vote of the membership to call a special meeting.

I would like to reassure the residents of the area, however, that there are several members of the board who are very fair-minded and concerned individuals who are continuing to work on the behalf of the entire neighborhood: to be sure that everyone has an opportunity to speak on the CVS issue and other issues which affect North Shore.

Planning Comm. reconsideration

thank you for your comments. it is these types of statements which, when more board members come forward, will help to fully restore our faith in the Board.

I would request a favor. Now that a couple of board members have come forward to disclose the unfortunate circumstances by which the letter was produced and representations were made to the Planning Commission, would you or any other board members pls submit the information to the Planning Commission and request them to reconsider their prior vote.

Thank you, Jackie

Thank you, Jackie for all of your efforts on our behalves as a member of the NSNA and the board. Thank you for your honesty about the board process. As a result of the candor of a handful of board members and their clear thinking about their responsibilities as board members to the membership, we have faith that a process will occur to restore the faith of the membership in our board. We thank you for your service and wish you would retract your letter of resignation, but understand if you feel unable to do so. Your resignation, the information provided on the CVS issues by activists, and the candor of other board members certainly did have the positive effect of activating the membership! We want to encourage all those board members who have worked to open up the process and address membership concerns to maintain your positions on the board and know that you have our support. Early this a.m., we typed and mailed our letter to the City Council, Mayor, Planning Commission, and CVS attorney regarding our objection to the application for rezoning. We'd be happy to share our letter with interested parties. Susan and John
